Hi, I just bought a 1984 Hunter 25.5. It is still in the yard getting the bottom painted. I should have done this during sea trial but didn't and am now trying to figure how to the reef the main. Apparently the clew reef line is missing. Does anyone out there know what size line I need for the clew reef line?...How does one "fish" the line from the end of the boom to the other end where there is a lever that is used to hold the line (I think that's what it is for)..Any help would be appreciated for this clueless rookie.

Reef Lines

Since I'd assume you want to do this just once; first check out the lead from the end of the boom up thru the cringle and hopefully back down to one side of the boom to a stainless steel eyestrap pop riveted to the centerline of the boom about 4-6" aft of the reef cringle when it is down on the boom. If Hunter didn't put an eyestrap on, they were expecting you to tie a loop of line around the boom, but this won't be as effective in tightening the foot as the eyestrap I've suggested. It may cost you a couple bucks and add 3' to the length of the reef line, which by the way, can be 5/16" low stretch double braid.
