Hunter 240 water ballast valve

I removed the valve from under the vessel. Hoping to inspect, clean and re-install. I have decided to clean it up and drop it off at the local machine shop. I'm going to get them to touch up a few spots. One spot however looks to be a drilled hole. The seal was not penetrated at all but I just can't see why there would be such a hole. It certainly doesn't need to be vented down there. lol

I'm going to get them touch up the threaded shaft weld and fill that hole. You agree?

I visited the store here on the site. Turns out that hole looks like it is for an alignment pin that is missing. That makes sense as there are 4 ports that get sealed. If that valve rotates, it would wreak havoc on that seal.

Routine maintenance, love it. Glad I checked. I better check the hull side again and make sure it can still accept a pin.
