Hunter 240 Boom Kicker installation

Hi All,

I just received delivery of a boomkicker solid boom support. The boom kicker attaches to the mast using a sail slug track insert. My problem is that I don't recall that the mast below the gooseneck has a sailtrack (I don't think so). Can anyone near their boat confirm? Mine is an hour away. If I need to order a new part I'd like to do so as quickly as possible.

If your mast does not have a groove below the gooseneck (which would be VERY wierd because of how mast extrusions are made) you can just screw the fitting to that mast. IIRC they even ship screws for that purpose (groove unreachable). Be sure to tap them and use loctite. But I bet you will find a groove! :)

While the goose neck fitting is bolted to the mast, I do think the track is there. The problem is you may have to remove that hardware to slide the new sail slug down to where it needs to go.

I put one on my 23.5 this year. I think you'll find that the groove goes all the way down the mast. I remember dropping the piece in the mast groove higher up, and then fishing and repositioning it using the screws. Installation was straight forward. I have no doubt you will think it is well worth what you paid for it.

cool! I'll take my toolbag. The Boomkicker construction is top notch. It sounds like I can unscrew/unbolt the gooseneck and drop the slug down is the way I read the replies.

I just installed mine on my h23. Just read the directions good. I lowered my sail slug down with fishing line and it was easy. Charles
