Hi

Just wondering what sort of altercations people have made to a h240 to increase performance? Also just wondering if anyone has done any of the following:

Added a main sheet track or tracks for the jib blocks?

What ratio are people running on the mainsheet and boom vang?

How are people setting up the outhaul? Are there any set ups that come back to the cockpit?

Are people running different sized jibs?

Justin;

When you look at the mainsail, it is extremely large as it was designed that way for power. If you combine the jib and a standard main for that size of boat, you will find the 240 has sail area of a standard main and probably that of a 130 to 140 jib. Even if you added a large genoa, you will be over powered not to mention the running of the jib sheets would be interfered by life lines and so on.

I suggest learning on what you have with the understanding not to heel over 13-14 degrees max and reefing and/or letting the sheets out. I use to win a lot of races with the normal set up. I would suggest an A symmetrical spinnaker for light airs.

Thanks, yeah I was more after if people are using smaller headsails ect? The boat seems to go well under 15 knots but heals over to much over that. I have been reefing early as of late and have had improved performance.

Also I was wondering if you have done / seen alterations to tracks in order to tweak performance.

Out of interest how did you rig the 240 for a spinnaker? did you add and extra Halliard and where did you run the sheets to? Finally do you know of anyone / any sites selling cheap spinnakers?

Actually in all my years, I never flew a spinnaker but rode with ones who did. For your purpose, I suggest the standard and not a racing style with all those lines, poles and so on. Remember to reduce sail but at the same time to let the sheets out but that comes with experience. Also remember when buying sails, forget the cheap ones as most of the time you will sacrifice quality. Have you tried this site for a spinnaker?
