Call me stupid but I don't know what the following specs represent for the 235. I = 25'6" J = 8'6" P = 25'8" E = 10' Also, the mast height at 33'6" I assume is from the weater not from the deck. Correct? I'd prefer not to hit a bridge. Thanks to all providing info. I'm learning a lot about my new boat. Hayden

Call you Stupid? I don't think so!

Untill today, I knew what they were, but not WHAT they were! I looked it up myself this afternoon: I=top most halyard, essentially Jib Hoist J= distance between Mast & Bow, (foot of 100% jib) P=Luff of the Main E=Foot of the Main

close, but...

Those are rough descriptions -- sometimes one needs a little more precision, though. (Especially when measuring for a new sail.) I - vertical distance from boat's sheer line to max jib hoist J - horizontal distance from front face of mast to the forestay attachment point at the bow The foot of a 100% jib is NOT = J. The LP (luff perpendicular) of a 100% jib is = J. (For the LP, imagine a line drawn from the clew to the luff that's perpendicular to the luff.) P - Distance from top of boom to max mainsail hoist (mainsail luff) E - Distance from the back of the mast to the clew attachment at its furthest aft location (mainsail foot)
