Fabricated My Own Mast Crutch

Jerzy, not sure where you can find originals. However, I easily fabricated my own mast crutch with the help of my Miller welder and less than 10 dollars worth of square steel tubing and flat bar stock. I'd offer to make you one, but shipping it to Texas might not be economical. CaptCaleb@yahoo.com

May be difficult to find a "23" pulpit so.....

An after market unit that will fit is an option. I'd check out Defender. The have a couple available. The built-in mast crutch is not critical. You can work around it with a little imagination (and line :) ) Greg

From the Archives

This came up a while back on this forum. A search of the archives may answer your question. Here is one response from when it came up before concerning bow pulpit replacement. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Submitted by Ken Palmer on 02/23 at 04:27AM regarding Hunter 23 Try Tops in Quality at http://www.sailnet.com/tiq/rails.htm They are great people to work with, and came highly recommended when I inquired about replacing the bow pulpit on my H33. Also made my own mast crutch...

...out of an 8' two-by-four, some 1/8" aluminum stock, a trailer bow roller, and some miscellaneous nuts and bolts. The crutch sat on the rudder pintles, and was just tall enough to support the mast while putting the pin in the step during launch. The total cost of parts was less than $20, and it took about an hour to put it together. E-mail me if you're interested in the design- I'll try to draw a picture of what I did and send it on (I sold the boat last year). --Jon Bastien H25 'Adagio' jonbastien(at)yahoo.com (trying to avoid the spam farms!)
