Hunter 23 WIll be at a Navy base
Looking for help to run my main so that it can be single handed. I am alone and am not comfortable climbing on deck to raise the main. My short legs do not climb well. I would like if someone had pictures or could explain in dummy language how to do it. Also, when you do this do you have exposed screws and nuts in the cabin. The mast step has been changed so that blocks can be attached.

I'm guessing you still have the winch on the mast. PO of my H23 removed the winch and placed it on the starboard cabin top near the cockpit (yes, any cabin top penetrations will protrude into the Cabin). He also placed a 3 line clutch behind it. The lines are run aft by turning blocks. Unless you have extra length in your Main halyard, you will probably need to purchase another halyard. There will still be times when you have to leave the helm, so you will need a way to maintain your heading. I have used a "cajun" tiller tamer but recently got a Davis tiller tamer. Then there is the ability to control the main once it is down. You can use lazy jacks or just wrestle the main then bungie it up or velcro or whatever. I'll take pics next week (first time I'll be off).

Thanks. I still have not figured out how to see pictures from this sight. Every once in a while I get them but then there are other times.
