Hunter 23 boom outhaul rigging problems

Recently bought a H 23 with Z-spar boom. The previous owner had rigged the outhaul to not use the internal pulley system. I want to restore this so I can trim the sail properly. Can anyone tell me how it is to be rigged? The boom seems to be able to accomidate the outhaul plus two reefing lines. Inside, it only has on block attached to the aft end of the boom inside. There is another pulley which can be rigged so the line runs the length of the boom three times with a wire on the other side of the pulley to use for the outhaul. How do you hook up the reefing lines internally? are they hooked to this single pulley system somehow as there's only one block inside on the aft end to hook on to.

Thanks for any help for how to rig the outhaul in general on this boom.

Hank, I do not have a 23 but outhaul/reefing systems are similar. Usually, the reef lines; if they are run inside the boom; do not use any of the internal blocks. Reef lines typically run from an anchor on the stern end of the boom, up thru the reef cringle on the leech, into the boom over a fixed sheave, thru the boom and out at the gooseneck. Outhauls are usually rigged with a purchase - hence the blocks inside the boom. I'd suggest you locate an owners manual to see how it was supposed to be rigged for your model boat. The P.O. may have abandoned the internal outhaul if one or more of the inaccessible blocks was frozen or broken (pretty common for older boats).
As an example, my setup has 2 blocks for the outhaul; one internal fixed near the gooseneck and one floating and fairly easy to get to at the tail of the boom. If the internal, hard-attached block near the gooseneck fails on my boat, I'll play heck getting to it - would have to disassemble to boom at that end.
