What is the total cost of converting to a jib roller fuller for a 23.5? As I get older, I'm getting a little tired of attaching and then flaking the jib. Sure would be nice to just give a little tug on a line. Also, which furler system works best on the 23.5?

Thanks

Jib Furler?

Gee, Bill, I don't know why this would be a problem for you. Isn't this part of Elaine's job? LOL.

Flexible Furler FF2 Seems to be the Choice

I was looking into it and rather than altering the jib a better alternative was a new one. Total cost was about $1500.

Instead I bought a "Yankee Bag" from the store on this site. The sail stays attached I just have to go forward and remove the bag. That with a downhaul was much cheaper and almost as easy.

I do some solo (wife works) sailing and I hate to go forward to set the jib/genoa. I made my own fuller out of PVC and it works Great! Total cost under $30. Now I can run my big genoa all the time and roll it in when it gets crazy windy.
Today I went out for the last sail of the year on Lake Pyramid, Ca. The local lake cops warned me that the wind was very light and made sure my outboard was in good shape. He had to go and no one would be around for two hours. (Vhf radio and cell 911 wouid still bring the rescue units if needed). Boy, I needed that full genoa for about two hours before the wind picked up to make 1.5 knots. At 1:30 the winds came up and I was moving out at 5-6 knots on a flat lake. Even at that, it was a great day on the lake!
Happy Holidays to all!

Bill,
I have a 23.5 Hunter in Florida which we love. My sailmaker converted the existing forsail on my boat, put a sacrificial sunbrella cover on the sail, modified the forstay and attached it to a Harken roller furling system. I just called him and he indicated he would do the same for you for $550.00 to $600.00 plus shipping. If you will contact me at captron@voyager.net or call me at 419 798 5820 I will give you his name and phone number.
You will have to purchase a couple of turning blocks and a cleat. It sure make life a lot easier not having to go forward to raise an lower the forsail
I also have a 30 foot Hunter and teach sailing on Lake Erie, look up www.saillakeerie.com
