Need to replace the centerboard lift line (rope) on my Hunter 23.5. I know I need to suspend the boat and lower the centerboard all the way. Now, on my 1995 model, how do I get access to the centerboard pin? And is there a special shackle on the lower end of the centerboard lift line that attaches to the centerboard? Or is there a way to attach the line directly to the centerboard without special hardware? Your help is appreciated.

Research the forum as there is much detail on this issue. You will need to lower the centerboard from the boat. The bolt that holds the centerboard bracket in place can be seen inside the boat below the cover plates surrounding the compression post. If there is resistence to the bracket coming out, simply move the centerboard in the down position from side to side. Suggest a messenger line for the cascade line.

If the boat is up in a lift, make darn sure the straps are secured on both sides with a line so they will not accidentally slide out due to the curvature of the hull.
