I am going to buy new sails for my 1987 Hunter 23 and would like advice on whether to choose a 110% or a 135% Genoa.

It was recommended to me to get a 135 Genoa. I did and have never had a regret. I have pics of it in my profile. Good luck with yours. Charles

What do you have now? I frequently changed between the 110 and 140; the 110 was high cut and I could see under the clew, in any real blow it was a great sail.

I had a 110 on my H23 and just installed a new main and 135 on a CDI roller furler. 135 is working great, but I'm able to reef some in if it's too windy.

Remember this tidbit with the CDI. When you want to take the sail up or down with the mast up of course, use a messenger line or you will then have to take the mast down and for those of you who do not know this system, it has it own internal jib halyard.

When tensioning the jib, when you start to see the leading edge of the sail having ruffles in it, you are at the point of too much tensioning. I have always used the term ruffles have ridges which my customers thought was silly but they remember that term when putting the jib or genoa on a CDI system as to proper tensioning.

Depends on your prevailing winds. We frequently have winds under 8 - 10 kt, so we often fly a 150%, going down to a 100% when its consistently hitting around 14-15 kts.
