I`m going to look at a 1984 22` Hunter and wanted any input on this boat. I`m going to be trailering it so wieght and ease of launching are considerations.

The 22'

If it's in good shape don't hesitate. A good price with trailer, motor and good sails is about $4000.00 (for an 81) I bought mine 2 years ago and love her. She heels on the easy side but I've taken her over 40 deg on the scale with NO water over the rails. She heads right into the wind if you go TOOO far anyway. Get yourself a storm jib. Between that and a reefed main you'll be suprised at the kind of winds she'll handle. A 7.5 Evinrude pushes mine fine. Ideal trailer for a sailboat like this will have BUNKS not rollers.

just bought one last spring

We bought our '82 last spring and had a great season of sailing on it. It's perfect for our family (we've got 2 young ones) and handled nicely in the sometimes rough waters and winds off the coast of Maine (with the storm jib and reefed main, it had no problem in 20 knot blows). Couple of things to watch out for: be sure the drainage tubing in the stern is in good condition (we replaced ours just to be sure) and make sure you've got a trailer, they are not easy to find and expensive to add!
