I have a transducer mounted temporarly on the transom but would like to mount it near the bow inside. Any one know where and if the hull has to be modified. Wood core or any other problems to look for?

Okay!

Is this a transducer for a depth finder? If so, I mounted mine in the bilge opening below the sink with some 3-m adhesive/sealant and mounted the unit on the starboard bulkhead next to the companionway (outside). I drilled a small hole to run the wire to the unit and siliconed over the hole after I ran the wire. Also, put in a 'buss-bar' to separate 12V accessories.

V-berth small compartment

I mounted my depth finder transducer in the little compartment at the front of the v-berth. I epoxied it to the inside of the hull then ran the wires under the starboard side where the portapotti goes. The wire then goes up the bulkhead. I have my depth finder and Loran mounted on the front of the compression post. From there, I can still see it from the cockpit, as long as the companionway is open.

Transducer Installation

I was in another forum and several people had good luck finding the correct location putting a ziplock baggy half filled with water between the hull and the transducer. This let them move the transducer to different areas to establish the best location to permanently mount the transducer. By the way check the installation instructions, some transducers do not like silicon products.
