There was some discussion some time ago concernin replacing the plexiglass companionway hatch on the 22 which is no longer available. I tried several plastics companies in the Seattle area and finally decided to make one of fiberglass. The new hatch is now on the boat and works fine, it is much stronger and can be walked on while sail handling, also since it's without the bulge of the previous hatch, the gooseneck doesn't dig into it when lowering the mast. If anyone is interested I can give you some information on how I built and installed the new hatch, also I have a picture I can email.
