Hunter 22 - paper-thin hull?

Friends - I have a '81 H22. My boat was cribbed this winter on railroad ties at my marina. The marina placed a couple pieces of lumber under the front tie to angle my bow up. The lumber was not the width of the hull and did not extend to the sides of the boat. The pressure of the boat resting on the lumber had the effect of depressing the hull 2-3 inches. The result was a crack in the hull that now needs repair. Additionally, I found huge blisters on the hull under the bilge this spring; apparently, water in my bilge worked its way OUT through the glass. Everyone in the yard has remarked how thin the glass on the hull is....it must be no more than 1/8" thick! Do all H22's suffer from this same design issue? Anyone else have similar issues?..Seth

damn...

The proper set up for an 81 H22 is 2 screwjacks aft, 2 at the curve of the hull amidships, just to hold her steady, one forward to support the bow, and 2 block piles one fore and one aft of the swing keel. All the real weight is supported by the block piles under the lead ballast bars.

The problem isn't that your boat has a thin hull, it's that the guy who cribbed it has a thick head. The boatyard should repair the damge they did by improperly cradling the boat.

Thank you

Thank you for the information. The boat yard saw it your way and fixed the hull for me yesterday. I will let them know how to do it next time!...Seth
