I pulled out a Hunter22 to paint the hull and I discovered that the retractable keel has been broke off. I've only given the owner a down payment to hold the boat before I found out. should I buy a new one or make my own? How much should the owner knock the selling price if I still decide to buy it. My Dad is in the fiberglass business,if I only Knew what the center board looked like. About 8" of the keel is still there.

I wouldn't be surprised if the cost of a professional repair approached the value of a Hunter 22 with its keel intact. If you want a project for the winter fine, but don't pay much for the boat. There are lots of comparable boats on the market that are ready to sail.
