Would it be ok to remove some ballast on the Hunter 22. Let's say go from 1300Lbs to 1000Lbs. This would increase most of the ratios. Has anybody ever done that? Would it be a wrong for mechanical, structural or safety reasons? Thanx

Not a good move.

Eric: Why would you ever want to do this? There are not too many Hunters that have too much ballast (except beer ballast). If you do this you will have a really tender little boat.

Asking for trouble

Removing any ballast on the 22 will be asking for trouble big time. I do not suggest this at all. Loss of wieght could in the worst case equal death. Think twice Crazy Dave Condon

Tender Enough

I have an 82 '22 and she gets over pretty quickly. I can't imagine removing some ballast would have anything but a negative effect on the boat. She move up to hull speed in pretty lite wind. My understanding is that once you reach hull speed, you can't really go any faster, right?
