I am trying to replace the oil pressure gauge and it looks like the panel needs to be pulled out. I think there is some kind of adhesive behind the panel. Has anyone else dealt with this issue?

There should be gasket behind the panel that keeps the moisture out. This can be separated from the backer board with care after you remove the screws. Not sure how the gauge is secured.
