I recently purchased a 1999 Hunter 260. I noticed that the line that raises and lowers the centerboard is very worn. Can somebody tell me how to rethread that line. I would imagine that I have to have the centerboard down to start with, but that is all I can figure out. Can I use a stainless steel wire with a plastic coating instead of the line that is on there now, which is rather thick. I am having the boat hauled out in about 2 weeks inorder to paint the bottom. I imagine that is the only time that I can do such a repair. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Howard

Welcome to the 260 world. You will find a wealth of information here. In particular here is what your looking for in terms of removing and replacing the centre board.

Can't see why a stainless steel cable wouldn't work but I would not use a covered cable as it could promote corrosion by holding moisture in contact with the wire. I am sure others here will have some observations as well.
