Have 1989 Hunter 18. The circular pin hole on rear of tabernacle broke so that loop is no longer closed. Obviously makes for a challenge in stepping and raising mast.

Anyone have suggestion on repair or if there is anywhere to obtain replacement part?

photo2 is different view
photo3 is pin on rear base of mast that goes through missing loop on tabernacle

That would be very easy for a welding shop to duplicate, even out of scrap.

That I believe appears to be an old Z Spar part. Z Spar is no longer doing business in the U. S. for good reasons. However, their parts are sold thru a company called U.S. Spars and they are located in the Gainesville, Florida area. If you go on line and look at their catalogues, you will find it. If anyone ever tells you pot metal can be welded, that is bunk for many reasons and a duplicate Stainless steel counterpart is expensive.

See if this forum's store offers that part for you first as they are good in getting most parts.

If the bolts are not thru bolted into the cabin that hold the mast step in place, then they are in drilled and tapped aluminum plates embedded between the fiberglass layers and you should be able to get them out but be careful.

I hopes this helps you.

I removed the same mast step (#1112) on my Hunter 18.5 for fiberglass repairs. Rather than reinstalling it, as these original ones seem to break, I plan to order an improved one available from ZSpar USA. The replacement is: #1100 for bout $35. I believe the hole spacing is the same. Call ZSpar to check: 800-928-0786

I ordered one from a Selden supplier in the UK. It took several months to arrive. Best to keep a spare if you said heavy winds. Not expensive from UK, but much more costly locally.

Jim;
Need clarification of the year your boat is. Is it the newer daysailor that you have? Selden masts was not around in the U.S. in 1989 and parts for this boat were from Z Spar bing a 1989 model which is much different. As for the name Z spar, I assume the fellow ordering the part ordered from U.S. Spars. Lets just say the parts from U.S. Spars are the same as Z Spar in France and lets just say officially that the name of Z Spar showing up on a building or site in the U.S. I doubt will ever happen.

My boat is a newer Hunter 18, circa 2012. The parts are Selden. They are sold in the US for about three times the cost of the USK supplier.
