Hello,
First post on the site. Been reading many of the existing posts regarding Hunter 170 repairs. Big thanks to all the posters!
On my Hunter 170, I had some extreme delam happening in the cockpit floor to the point where there were severe cracks all around the centerboard trunk. I decided to cut away the ACP and see what was underneath and it appears that the sub floor has failed where it attaches to the centerboard trunk. It looks like there was just a single glass layup attached to the centerboard trunk and that has failed, which is ultimately the cause of the delam of the top skin. The sub floor appears to be made of structural foam. Based on my examination of where the glass layup was attached on the trunk and where it is sitting now, it seems like the floor has dropped about 2 inches.
So here is my plan, Please let me know if you guys think this is solid.
1) Figure out a way to bring the sub floor back to its original height. (Considering placing a jack underneath and cranking it up little by little?)
2) Clean the original glass and attachment area, then wet it out and re apply.
3) Add a secondary layup to the joint.
4) Cut Coosa (already bought it, so figured I'd use it) and epoxy to sub floor for added support, then add additional lay up to centerboard trunk from Coosa.
5)Glass entire floor where I removed skin (old skin is severely warped and cracked )
6) Layup Plexus impregnated glass to connect new floor to rest of the skin.
7) paint new fiberglass floor and possibly cover with EVA Foam.
Please see attached pictures. Thanks in advance for the feedback.
