Hunter 15 sank this weekend because of the drain pipe disconnecting from the hull drain plug..anybody have this happen to them????
hose disconnected from the the drain inside the hull..,,the water filled the hull..
Thanks jimmy.. No idea why it. Came off..it a brand new boat!! seems odd that they would have this single point of failure ..considering they market this as a unsinkable boat! It's a flexible hose that is pushed into a bulb fitting--no clamps!! The dealer contacted hunter to see if it had happened before ... And to make them aware. I was able to recover the boat ...the dealer sent. A mechanic to fix the hose ----I'll keep an eye on it ....Any idea why it disconnected? Is the hose a solid or flexible piece? On some boats the hose you describe is a solid plastic pipe that is fitted to the cockpit sole and to the transom. Sometimes these ridged pipes fail around the fittings and need to be resealed. I have owned 2 Precisions which are known for that. That would be my only complaint about the boats though. If it is a rubber hose that connects to fittings I would be curious if a clamp failed. In thinking about this for a few minutes if I had a similar set up I would want jag ends on my deck fittings like used in an air hose connections so the hose is not able to slip off in the event of a clamp failure. That is if anything like that is available.
