I've seen PHRF ratings for 272 (outboard) from 225-240. Anybody have any ideas what is right, or what their 272s are currently rated at? Also, what's hull speed on these boats?

I raced my 272 in both New England and Florida for 15 years and my rating in NE was 231. In Florida it was 228. Both ratings were with a 2 blade folding prop which carried a 3 sec per mile penalty. Strongly suggest that you add the folding prop, a light air 155% Genoa and replace the silly Neal Pryde main with a large roach mainsail. You will not win races with stock production sails.I also had the Westerbeake inboard engine so I don't know what that does to the rating. Hull speed should be around 6.25 kts. but faster in seas downwind. If you want to email further my address is joe@dolphinmortgage.com
