The vinyl hull liner on my 1997 36s7 is pulling away and sagging. I have tried taping it up, but the tape won't hold on the fiberglass. Anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions? And it is spreading.

Interior liner sagging

I had the same problem with my First 30. The liner is a "leatherette" material with a foam lining. Once it comes down you are screwed as it will not go back up with glue or tape.

We stripped ours out and put cherry panels up. Looks great.

I had the same problem with my 350, and as the previous post said, the foam backing disintegrates and makes it impossible to reglue. I vacuumed off most of the loose foam and in desperation tried a hot melt glue gun. This worked, but the liner has to be stuck back up bit by bit, and careful with the glue gun, not to put too much adhesive and telegraph ridges through the liner. Two years later it's still stuck - good luck

Hey sagging,

This is apparently common with Beneteaus.
I have a 88, 285, and I have to re do the inside.
I have looked into this, and a number of folks with the same problem have taken out the old, and used the pieces as tmplates for carpet replacement. Surface prep is very important before you glue up the new. I tried to re attach the vinyl in the head. I had to remove all the foam from the vinyl, annd the cabin, and I used outdoor carpet cement, (non solvent), and it stuck well, but not too good looking.
I m going the carpet route as soon as I hav a chance.

Good luck

One solution to sagging vinyl headliner

The vinyl hull liner on my 1997 36s7 is pulling away and sagging. I have tried taping it up, but the tape won't hold on the fiberglass. Anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions? And it is spreading.
I had the same problem with my First 285. Even good adhesive doesn't work. What seems to work is wood firring strips "glued" to fiberglass under headliner with 3M 5200. This is the same adhesive used to join decks and hulls together - so you should not be able to remove later. I then used s.s. grommets and screws into wood. It seems to hold. This only works on long areas. I will try velcro and adhesive in non "load-bearing" areas. You may choose to remove the foam backing - or not, but it will be necessary for small areas.
