Does anyone have any suggestions on applying the lettering of the name of a boat, short of hiring a sign painter. I know I can't do it myself. I need a good source of some kind of decal of stencil and advice on the best method. I bought a 1979 O'Day 23 named the BrineyB out of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. a couple years ago, with the name painted out. It is time she had a name. It took me this long to decide on "Dawn Treader". Anybody claim exclusive rights to that name? I know there are at least several.

Check Ebay

Do a search for boat lettering on eBay. There's a company that is always auctioning custom lettering on there for under 25 bucks. I've been to the site, there's all diffrent fonts and colors. Laser cut vinyl, self adhesive if I remember correctly. Eight year life on them... It's what I plan to do on my O22 next spring. Josh P.S. The site is http://boat-lettering.com/

Good Name

As a tribute to C. S. Lewis and the Narnia Chronicles, you couldn't do better. As far as lettering, check your local yellow pages. Lots of good stuff there if you cross-reference. There are also classifieds in SAIL and other mags. Good luck! That's something Patty and I have to look into very shortly, as well. Bill C., O-22 Closure, O-28 Aroundtuit

Larry, In Florida you must have 100's of sign shops, I know when I was looking on the net most of them were in FL. Last year I relettered our 27, I chose to have the lettering done a local sign shop and I installed it myself. what I got was 3M vinyl, computer generated lettering (5 year warranty) the instalation was easy, spray water w/ a mild soap where you want the sign, place the sign and squeege out the water and air bubbles, let dry and peel off the paper (the sign shop will either show you how to do it or offer to do it for a fee)Now it cost me @ $225. and 1hr of my time, what I got was 2 signs (port

Opted for 12 in letters both sides ...

and added a 18 in. seahorse at the bow, both sides, from one of the ebay vendors for under $100 including shipping. My last set of letters lasted 15 years before they started to crack and break off. I like big bold letters on the sides ... see related link.
