Where does Catalina hide the Hull Id number on my older C27? Thanks, Jeff

Where ours was.

Although we have a Catalina 30, your situation may be similar to ours. I thought it was located on the Stbd side of the transom immediately below the hull/deck joint (where the rub rail is). I looked and didn't find it, so looked everywhere else. When I called a dealer who confirmed my original thought, I took a flashlight and lit the transom from the side. Only then could I make out the EXTREMELY faint hull number. It was so lightly engraved as to be virtually invisible. Does anyone know whether it's legal to deepen it with an engraving tool or something? I assume it would be as long as the number stays the same. Regards, Gary Kunkel

barely there

I just bought a 1986 Catalina 30 and I found the hull number, barely legible, scratched into the hull, on the stern, almost under the rub rail. Good hunting.

Found mine

on the inside face of the transom, in the cockpit, in the middle, on a plate(1972 w/ outboard). Like the others said, it was difficult to read, but it was there.
