Hull ID Numbers 1984 model.. HELP!

The HIN on the rear transom has been covered by awlgrip and I understand that there are two locations where the numbers exist. One is supposed to be inside the boat but I have no idea where to begin the search. Can anyone point me in the right direction. It is hull 3538 and built in Nov 84.

If you know the sail number, isn't that enough? All the placard says is C-30 in the model no. spot and the sail number in the lower spot...

Team118, I believe Jeff is referring to the Hull Identification Number embossed into the fibreglass on the upper, stbd side, of the outer transom. The plate you mentioned is fastened to the upper centre, inside transom. This plate, speaking from experience, has been known to indicate the wrong (different from HIN) sail number.
