Is there any truth or products, mainly anodes, that can help direct bottom growth to these anodes? My boat does need a bottom job, but after a good cleaning two months ago, I am amazed how fast growth is starting again.
Welcome to the warm, rich waters of SW FL and our abundant hull growth. I leave the boat in the water from Late September to Early June and usually repaint the bottom every other year and touch up the thinning spots once in between. Anodes on the boat or in the water nearby wouldn't accomplish any deterrent to our local bottom issues but maybe others have a secret I'm unaware of.
Every region varies but I've had very good success down here with Interlux Micron Extra with biolux($200gal). It's an ablative with a fungicide. I'll lightly broom it twice a season to remove any slime but would only have a very few barnacles where the paint might be nicked or thin. I have the boat up as we speak for my mid summer fun under the hull. Stop by and share the fun
Anodes are devices that sacrifice themselves to ward off corrosion of metal components. Won't do a thing for stuff that grows on a hull - that is what antifouling paint is for.
