Oday 272 Lake Pleasant
I am considering installing a depth sounder with the transducer attached to the inside of the hull. For this to work, the specs call for a solid as opposed to cored hull. Is the 272's hull solid glass or is it balsa cored?

I'm guessing it's solid. I know several people that have gone this route, but why are you? Do you not have an existing transducer that you can replace with a new one?

I have the 240 which also has the wing keel. I mounted a transducer with plumbers caulk. I mounted it in the starboard rear storage area which is under the rear sleeping area. It works great.

I see you sail in Lake Pleasant. My parents live in Sun City. Whenever we visit we rent a sailboat in Lake Pleasnt, beautiful lake.

The hull should be solid below the waterline. You might want to verify that there is not an existing hole in the hull with an existing transducer in place (that you can remove and install a new one).

The other option as Spooled mentions, is placing the transducer in some medium INSIDE the hull (whereby eliminating a hole in the hull). Several,ways to do this....search for transducer on the forum and I am sure you will find many posts.

Transducer inside the hull. Search these forums and I think you'll find it. I mounted men in lumbers putty and it works perfectly.
The hull on a 272 is solid.

The only O'DAY with a cored hull was the O'DAY 39/40. All others had solid fiberglass hulls.

Oh! Look forward of your keel. My 272 has a thruhull transducer mounted and a speed paddle there. Maybe yours does too.
