My 1985 Cat 30 was actually made and delivered from California in 1984 by truck on the cradle furnished and used since then for outdoor winter storage. Prior to launching this spring I noted keel/hull separations fore and aft ("Catalina Smiles")and had a local dealer examine it. He found two additional trouble areas (cracks) near the foreward stbd cradle pad and aft portside pad. These were considered by him at least as severe as the keel problem. The manager of the storage yard stated this to be a common problem with many boats and cradles where boat weight is less than perfectly distributed among the keel and four bearing pads. Has any one had similar experience and what cradle changes might be recommended?
