Has anyone with later model Hunter's had any problems with hull cracks. I heard that there may be some problems with "recycled fiberglass having some structural weakness.

What is a "hull crack"? Never heard of such a thing that wasn't connected with some accident. If you're talking about boats were the hull just cracks then it sounds like whoever you were talking to dosen't know much/anything about boats and I wouldn't trust anything they say. Wait a minute! Further details: A friend of mine told me he has an associate who had a 3-4 year old Hunter that developed small cracks in the hull around a couple of the through hull fittings, as well as some small cracks in the deck in area of chain plates. These were not able to be "patched" so he reportedly is getting the hull and deck replaced. This reportedly was due to using some componemnts of recycled fiberglass in the construction, and this has apparently since been rectified by Hunter in the past couple of model years. I was curious if anyone else has experienced or heard of anything like this?

a friend of a friend said...sounds like some sort of urban myth! Oh, and he's getting the "hull and deck" REPLACED? Pretty good deal if you were to ask me. I'd guess someone was talking about hairline stress fractures in the gelcoat and the discussion got out of hand. With this being by far the most active website on sailing in general, not to mention Hunters specifically, I believe we might have heard this one before. Nope, never heard that one!!!

I crawled into the storage space beneath the cockpit on my '04 240 the other day to service the battery. Above the battery, on the starboard side, I noticed a crack behind the bottom of the cockpit locker. The crack is running from starboard to port. I am not at all sure the glass is cracking - it may just be the "brown stuff" they spray over the glass, but something is obviously stressing it. I am going to try and get a picture of it and post here to see if anybody has any ideas before I call Hunter.

I have a 2003 356
I had and have a problem with crackes in the Gel Coat along both toe rails.The original cracks appeared in the first year,were ground out and refilled by the selling dealer but now some more are reappearing.I will be contacting Hunter soon.I have not looked at the thru hulls yet. I also know that 1 2002 356 had cracks appearing at the chainplate on the port side.I saw them.I dont know what the resolution was.

I am very curious about the Chain Plate gel coat cracks on the 2002 356. Did they take it up with Hunter? Does anyone know of other similar situations?
