I have been doing some research and decided to post this question anyways. We moor our boat on Lake Ontario. The hull is covered with little black dots. Bug/spider poop maybe. Can someone recommend a good cleaner to remove this. We're going to bring it into our dock and clean it right in the water. Thanks

You may find the following info useful. I had a really scummy bottom and used a toilet bowl cleaner and pressure washer which worked okay on the deck. For the really tuff job of 4 years of hull scum the only thing that really worked was oxalic acid wash. You can buy it on eBay cheap (used by rock collectors). Make sure you clean up after especially your trailer it is nasty stuff but works amazingly!

I used a cleaner I found at West Marine that worked great. I don't remember exactly what it's called but basically the name has 'Spider and Bird' stain remover in it's name and came in a spray bottle. I tried regular boat wash and got nowwhere but this stuff is amazing and it's supposed to be safe for the marine environment. Hope this helps.

I have good luck with Roll off. Bought in a gallon and diluted. The toilet bowl cleaner will work work too. I just use a medium stiff brush after letting the roll off set up. If I need an abrasive I use a baking soda/water paste but this is rare. SC
