Here I am sitting in my lounge room watching TV and typing away "live" connected to the net without any wires attached to my laptop. Wireless internet. Thank goodness my son is up to date with all this type of stuff. I guess you guys in the states have had this technology for years??

Works Great on the Boat Too

We use WiFi on the boat. On a resent 2 month cruise we could usually connect with an open wifi router if we were in civilation. People install routers out of the box and do not read the manual. They don't turn on password protection and incription. Nice if you happen to wander within a 1/4 -1/2 mile of them. This saved a lot of time sending and receiving emails without having to use Winlink and the ham radio. Bill

Every boating geek's dream

While researching how to stay connected as I attempt the land-based to cruising jump, I've come across these guys. This should do the trick in a whole lot of places. Basically it takes a cellular signal and converts it to wifi, so you can have a wireless network anywhere there's cellular service.

lots of internet cafe's

around San Carlos Mexico where you can get a wireless connection. We just did 3 weeks there and used it extensively.

Does the internet usuage count on your minutes of your cell plan? If so, do the minutes count as long as you have the box turned on or is it just the time it takes to download each page? Do you need a special package from the cell provider to use this?
