how wide is that transom?

Can anyone tell me if the transom of a 1987 catalina 36 is physically smaller or dimensionally different than a 1990 walk thru 36? I am planing to buy this boat but must have easy acess. I am aware of the physical work required but wonder if the sheer line or presence of the tramsom is different on the 90. Has anyone done this? Does anyone have any line drawings?

Lyall; Are you thinking of creating a walk through on the 87? I think they are the same width. I don't believe they made any changes until the MkII. I have a 93, it is not a MkII, and it seems to be the same as other 36's I have seen. I would think that some major glass work would be required. Mike

Thanks mike, maby i'll make a mold of the finished job. the catalina 36 is a great boat but the walk thru models are really great for those of us who have been floundering over the safty lines for far to long.
