Hello all! We recently bought a used Catalina 25. On board we found a Windscoop, but I have no idea exactly how to attach it to a hatch for ventilation. It's like the one linked below. It includes three dowel rods, each about 20" long, and each having a small open hook near each end. I know you hoist the top end by a line off the mast, but I can't figure out how to secure it to the hatch. Web searchs found plenty of sites selling the Windscoop, but no info on how to use it. Anyone have a link to instructions, or could describe how this scoop is used? Thanks! Jack

wind scoop

I have a C30 and my scoop has4 gromet holes on the bottom and the two center holes Itie around the hatch window the two side holes Itie to stanchion baces both sides. The top of the scoop gets tied to the for stay on rainy days tie it lower so the rain dosent fly in I use mine so often that it needs to be replaced every few years. But when its hot it works great. Last year I made a new one out of sail cloth but its heavyer then the nylon so it dosent fly as good in light air.I never tied the scoop side ways like the picture but It will still work even if its not tight to the deck. windscoop how to..

I had a windscoop, it came with a dowel that you slip through the hem at the bottom to hold it inside the hatch and you hoisted the grommet end with a halyard. Very simple and useful on those hot days with only a slight breeze.
