I bought my boat a little over a year ago and its been kept in fresh water. I don't know how old the bottom paint is. I know it's abblative since it rubs off pretty easily if you rub it.

Do you just keep layering paint every year or two?

Thanks,
Jared

if its still there its still good.... ablative paint means it sloughs itself off as needed to keep itself fresh and working..... when you see it getting thin, its time for more.
you can just paint on more AFTER you scrub and clean the bottom of the residual slime that may be on it....... in fresh water it will probably remain in good condition for three years or more...... this is my experience but other waters and temperatures may have more or less affect on how long it lasts...
