I have a 22' Oday with a 7" cleat. The marina I joined has a 7/8" thick pennant that I must use on their mooring. It just fits over my cleat, but I am concerned about it coming off.Any ideas on how to secure it? I don't want to start drilling holes for a larger cleat!

Can you make a pendant

with a smaller line that fits over our cleat and then connect that to the 7/8" pendant? I would basically make or have made a pendant with an eye splice at either end, maybe a foot or two long. Loop one end thru the existing pendant and the other over your cleat. Make sure you use chafe protection on whatever you use. David

Loop-ey

Make a loop withh a smaller piece of line. Tie it to itself with a bowline or a square knot doubled or any other know you can tie that will hold. Thread the loop through the big pennant and back through itself. You're done. Kinda like when you tied a rubber band to a pencil, remember that? No splices or anything fancy. Better yet, make two of 'em, and use them both, so if one breaks you're still connected. Stu

See the Mooring Bridle at: http://bosunsupplies.com/Snubber.cfm I’m certain you can see the necessary adaptation for your application. Another simple alternative is to use a short (<10') piece of small stuff (3/16 - 1/4") with an 8" loop at one end. With the pennant cleated, drop the loop over the cleat with the pennant and draw it tight and hitch to opposite cleat. Notwithstanding your understandable reluctance - you really should install a larger pair of cleats. BTW the pictured snubber is way too short for anchoring. Longer snubber = more shock absorption.
