I recently purchased this boat and since the PO hasn't sailed it for a while he didn't remember how to rig it. It has a thin rope that is used to lower the main sail, but I can't find any block or where it should be lead to. The jib has similar rope and it passed via blocks to the cockpit. All other ropes go to cockpit via clutches. Any ideas. Thanks.

It's probably a haul down. When it's time to lower the sails, sometimes you need to pull them down. This small rope is probably just to help you do that. I just did it to my jib. Now I can pull my jib down and secure it without leaving the cockpit.

With a main, you may want to incorporate a lazy jack to collect the flakes as the sail comes down. This is mostly to make single handed sailing easier.

Thanks, that's exactly what it is, but I'm not sure how to rig it. Other than the eyelet show in the pictures, I don't see anything else. For now I just threaded it through the eyelet shown and along the boom through the two horseshoes for the boom vang and main line, but I doubt this is what was intended.

the rolled edge of the sail goes into the slot in the mast. Some dry sail spray sprayed into the slot on the mast can make it go easier. The rope for hoisting the sale has a snap on one end and just ties off to the mast when raised all the way. Many people will route this rope back to the cockpit for one handed sailing. It needs a pulley on the base of the mast and another on on the adjustable rails on one side of the mast. Then you can tighten the sail with your cockpit wench.
