How to replace the line for raising the keel

ideally you want the boat high enough to swing the keel down/out completely. Usually that means hanging in the slings, for safety reasons.
When I had a McGregor 25, I just dug a slotted hole (the yard allowed that back in the early 1970's) and dropped the keel that way...I did scrape it and replaced the pivot bolt and bushings while there.
