How to remove the install VHF Radio

All, I just installed a Charplotter and am finishing up my autopilot install. Since I was running wires anyway, I pulled a data cable down to my nav station (it is hooked up to the GPS output in the pedestal) from the pedestal and want to hook it up to my VHF radio to make the Digital Selective Calling work with GPS coordinates. Since I am a bit mechanically challenged, is there a simple trick/procedure to getting the radio out so I can hook the GPS signal cable up to the radio? Thanks Ray

Not sure how it comes out, but what is the protocol used to send the position through VHF? Is there a NEMA conection on your VHF radio?

I did an RTFM

In the Horizon VHF manual they talk about connecting up an NMEA output from the GPS in the back. There are only two wires. So what I did was connected the jumper output from the Chartplotter back to my AP NMEA inputs in the pod and jumpered off of them onto a wire that runs down to where my radio is (along with the rest of the AP wires). Only problem is that I can open the power box up and look up at the radio, but I am not 100% sure what I need to undo to get the radio to pull out. I am sure it is simple, but this looks like a factory install, so I haven't done it.

All of my Raymarine nav. eqip. is connected together with SeaTalk including the C90w that has the GPS internal. SeaTalk runs to the course computer. Does the course computer convert SeaTalk to NEMA? Can I use the NEMA connection on the course computer to connect to the VHF?

The answer according to SailingDog is no. The connection must be made from the C90W NEMA to the VHF w/DSC directly, not through SeaTalk.

Flush Mount

This was a bit of pain for no gain. If you look at the attached bracket picture, these guys sit on the side of the radio with a screw in from the side to hold them on and then the screws that are 90 degrees offset are used to hold the back of the front face against the panel. I finally got these off, only to figure out there is no connector on the back for the GPS there (as well as no picture in the manual that would have helped). There is one data cable that the remote mike is off of that you need to splice into. Also after pulling a cable over there, I realized the extra gray cable in my NavPod was actually run over to my radio for GPS, but the PO never wired it up. Hopefully I will get to it this next weekend.
