Hunter 260 Barrie
Hi
I a have recently purchased a Hunter 260. It has a stern mounted Merc 9.9 with wheel steering (uses and EZ steer hookup).

I have trouble steering the boat out of our tight harbour. The boat slides or shifts too readily at these low speeds.

Can anyone offer suggestions? AND specifically. To lower the centerboard to its most extended position, do I haul in the deck line or release it fully?

thank you

Grayley

To lower the center board release the haul out line completely. This will help with the steering of your boat.

I recommend keeping your fresh water tank full. This helps press down the bow.

The H260 is a tricky boat under power. The bow catches the wind very easily. If your course is upwind, you may need to back out of the marina for better control.

I use much more power and speed entering my slip with a cross wind than any other boat I've handled. I rely on a hard reverse to stop the boat, which is a poor boat handling practice.
