How to install a stereo on a Mac26x

My husband I are deciding which options we would like/need on the MacGregor we are in the process of buying. $575 seems steep for a stereo. How does one go about installing their own stereo? Does anyone have any specs on how to do this (we are fairly handy when we put our minds to it).

Buy Marine speakers at West Marine or other Marine store outlet and trailer the boat to an auto sound system store and they can install a stereo and wire it all up. Might consider a removable unit. Also check the marine store for a water resistant stereo, a little more expensive but lasts a little longer under marine conditions.Mike

check out www.macgregor26x.com .............. inthe MODS section has many different set ups........ I spent a tad bit more on mine and did it myself....have speakers mounted in the pedestal and also inside.......sounds super.
