Hi all, Some of the winch bolts needed tightening and in the process i must have somehow adjusted the winch friction. Before it stayed where it was left but now the weight of the keel starts to unwind the cable.I looked at the simple Mac25 manual but it didnt really help.How do i increase the friction on the winch?? On my Venture 25 With no tension on the winch wire. IMPORTANT Remove the bolt and washer that holds the handle from coming off. Remove the handle and spring. Remove one of the friction pads. Remove the ratchet star. Remove another friction pad. Clean any oil from the pads and star then rough the surface with emery or sand paper. Reassemble opposite How ever I had to remove the compleat winch after removing the handle as my ratchet star was to big to get out of the hole. I hope I have remembered this correctly. If not I'm sure someone else will help.
