I am considering a '92 Hunter 30. The interior needs some "TLC". The hull liner is a type of fabric, I think. It's become wet due to an open hatch and subsequently mildewed badly. Any suggestions on a remedy? which cleaning products are best? thanks!!!!!!!!!

Hulliner fabric
I had the same mildew problem on a previous boat and ended up putting new hulliner fabric in. It was easy to install; a little marine adhesive and the new fabric is on tight. I'd have to agree with Chris. Although our boat was in really great shape when we got it, we could not seem to get that hull liner stuff completely clean (the thin off-white or beige looking stuff, right?). Therefore it's outtah here and thin strips of mahogany are going up in its place...

mildewed in places when we bought her. As long as the material is still bonded to the hull, use Soft Scrub from your local store. It works great on removing stains and mildew without harming the material. Wipe off with a damp cloth. Ours turned out just like new. Terry

Midlew & Molds
We had the same issue w a recently purchased 1993 30T. The problem w mildew and mold is that it is imbeded in the cushions and fabric. Replace both you'll never get the mold out of the fabric or foam. If you decide to replace the cushions have the foam wraped in plastic (under the new fabric). This way no mold will grow in the foam. MOST IMPORTANT .... vent the cabin w a solar ventilator or 2. W/O the vent mold w grow in a dark, moist, invironment. How do I know ... been there! My son has asthma. You wouldn't believe that although the fabric appeared clean and in reasonably good shape how foul smelling the cushion became. For a quick and temp fix use Fabriz.

I had a mildew problem and solved it by putting a dehumidifier sp in my boat at the dock..West Maarine has a good one at $ 70 or WalMart about $30. uses same el as a 100 walt bulb..Worked for me
