This is my first full season with my 33.5 and a 2GM20F engine. I want to change the antifreeze, but cannot find where the draincock is on the engine. The draincock is referred to several times in my Chilton Marine Yanmar repair manual, but no picture of where it is located. Any help out there?

Draincocks

There are two you need to drain. Both are on the left side when looking at the front of the motor. One is at the bottom of the heat exchanger/exhaust manifold. The other is slightly lower and forward, buth should have hoses going to the bilge. If you open them and don't get out a decent flow of coolant, remove the plug and probe then with a dental pick or piece of coat hanger to break up the crud. Open the Radiator Cap, Too!

When you drain the coolant, don't forget to open the radiator cap at the same time. It will drain a lot easier.

Thanks guys. Left side, huh *o

Sounds pretty easy, but... the left side of the engine is tough to get to in the 33.5. It looks like the wooden top that covers the engine will come off by removing several screws in the trim. That might give me more access to the left side as well as the top of the engine. Right now there is only a small access door on the left side, barely big enough to get your hand in to grab the oil dip stick. The ice box is also right there on the left side. Sounds like a bad idea having a hot engine next to the ice box. This will make a good week-end project.

Maybe this will help you.

It's a pic of my motor (3HM35F) that shows one of the drain cocks. It's the semi-clear (yellowed with age) tube that passes by the fuel lift pump. I recollect that there is another tube of the same type aft of this one - same side.
