I need to disengage the Raymarine Autopilot from the steering quadrant. The starboard side has a large ramrod which I've removed. The port side has a small thin threaded rod attached to the quadrant. I need advice how to remove this thin threaded rod.

Should be a screw or stud in the quadrant end with a ball end on it, the fitting on the rod usually just clips to it. Lightly pulling straight up on it should disconnect it. There may also be a retainer clip that will have to be removed.

Could be a retainer clip. I will have to look at it again.
Thanks

no retainer clip on the rudder position sensor (thin threaded rod) carefully pry up between plastic fitting and the quadrant -- it will pop off. But you shouldn't have to rebuild the sensor - just the drive unit which is attached to the aux tiller with a 12mm clevis.
