How to create a cockpit drain in Venture 17

I am looking for anyone who might have experience in putting a drain into the lowest point of the cockpit floor on a Venture 17. My initial thought is to somehow connect it up by a hose or pipe so that it can drain out of the bilge drain unless that is only to be used whe the boat is out of the water. I am pretty handy but have no experience working on Fiberglas boats.

Doesn't the cable from your keel winch to the keel run through the cockpit floor?

I found this picture of a V17 cockpit and it has the same arrangement as our V224 - the cockpit scupper is also the keel cable hole. The cockpit drains into the top of the keel trunk. Yours is not like this?

Yeah, What Top Cat said. '17 and '21 and '24 all had drain through cable hole. Maybe you got gunk in the drain? Send pics...
