What is the most elegant way to attach a 1" vent hose to a holding tank in a straight-in run (no elbow)? What I have come up with is using Sealand parts: 2" Sealing grommet (600343023) to Flanged Fitting Adapter (600340280) to Hose Adapter Kit (307230312) to Flexible Vinyl Coupling (307348684) to Reducing Adapter (307341113) to 1" hose. But this seems awfully complicated. A bit of 1" OD plastic pipe with a U075 Uniseal would do the same thing, wouldn't it? How's the Dad doing, Peggy? Owen McCall

Why not just use an elbow?

A single elbow on the tank won't impede airflow. Just don't use another one at the thru-hull. Dad has had a setback...his vitals and bloodwork are still ok, but his most recent check x-ray shows increasing fluids in his chest again. He was back in the hospital overnight, went back to the rehab center late today. Prognosis is very uncertain, so it's still one day at a time. Thanks for asking.

Nearing my one year

My wife and I pray for you to have the strength to continue. It is said that God will not give you more than you can handle - it seems to be a test. Of course you are not alone, each of us must face the aging of our parents. But that doesn't really make it easier for you when it is your time. Know that you do have your own personnal support as well as the thoughts and prayers of "strangers" that have grown to know a part of you from these forums.

elbow/no elbow is not the issue

My question is how to deal with 1" hose. I purchased a "blank" tank from Kracor so that I can locate the holes at optimum positions. This is made easy by Sealand's fittings, which require only a hole saw for installation. But they only make 1.5" and 5/8" hose fittings. How do I deal with the 1" hose? How do I connect that diameter hose to my tank? Thanks for the update. Here's hoping that the both of you can maintain a positive outlook to help get him through this thing. Owen

I THINK you can still use an elbow....

Just use one that isn't threaded and install it using the Uniseal. If you can't find on that'll work that way in a marine store, try a hardware store plumbing department. The support and good wishes from y'all are VERY much appreciated!
