The flourescent light bulb in the head is out. We can't figure out how to get the light cover off to change the bulb. Help!

Not sure, but....

if it is like my H37C the white cover of the pushbutton switch screws off. The ends of my flourscent lights all have a white pushbutton. There is a tapered cover that unscrews. Then you pull the end-cap that covers the end of the lens(cover), now the lens should come out. The bulb should snap out of the two clips and the wires can then be pulled off of the ends of the bulb. The larger West Marine stores have the bulbs. Hope that's helpful.

Ed is correct.

I just replaced the whole fixture in my head, since it wasn't the bulb that was bad, but something in the electronics that makes it possible for a florescent bulb to operate on 12 volts. I discovered that the fixture was wet, which may be a reason it failed. My wife used to keep the port open rain or shine to help re-cycle the air. The water had to go somewhere; right into the fixture. We will now close the port in rainy weather. By the way, I found the prices of florescent fixtures to be far lower than the "marine" outlets when I purchased out of a J.C. Whitney catalog under the RV section. Ken Palmer, S/V Liberty

I just grab the cover in the center and pull and (gently) twist it out. Similar procedure to replace. I want to know how Hunter knew 18 years ago that the lights would be in exactly the spot where the bolts for my genoa tracks would come through?
