How to bring hatch covers back to life??

I have an 87 Hunter 34 with several smoked plastic hatch covers that are becoming very hazy and dull? Is there a product that will help me out? I am not tring to get rid of the scratchs, just clear them up and protect them if posible.ThanksAl Shaffer

Al:Contact your local shop in the yellow pages under "Plexiglass" there are several low abrasion products specifically designed for your problem.Just be sure they are marked for use with plexiglass.

Airplane window treatment

Look in any pilot's supply catalog like "Sporty's" and there is plexiglass cleaners and polishes for aircraft wind shields. They require some elbow grease but will generally clean up all but crazing (spider like lines within the plexiglass itself)pretty well.

Try the McGuires products. They have some heavy duty stuff that will take out scratches and really polishes them up afterwards.Just used it last weekend.

Its Curtains for Your hazy and Dull Hatches

I'm a new Hunter owner [1992/35.5] and it doesn't appear to have this malady. I had this problem on my previous boat though and found nothing worked well to cure the haze or dullness. You may have also noticed tiny flecks seemingly in the plexiglas. This is due to sun damage, I think.The dullness I was told comes from acid rain. I ended up replacing the plexiglas with lexan, bronze tinted. It worked well, but is not an easy fix.

has a 2 part product available at most boat supply houses. I have used it for the last 2 years on the fixed windows and hatch covers of my 34. Works well with a little elbow grease. It will take the haze away, and allow you to see through as well as let more light in. It will not take the web-like frost done by years of being sun-baked. I replaced the portlights lenses. Good Luck

This is a super duper easy fix. You might doubt that it'll be safe but it works beautifully! You couldn't even SEE out of my folks hatches
